We have all encountered examples of AI in literature and in movies, such as in Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" or in Kubrick's "2001 - A Space Odyssey". These fictional AI's vary in how interesting, capable, friendly, or plausible they are. Let's discuss these aspects of our favorite fictional AIs.
If you want, you could bring a DVD so that we can view a short clip that demonstrates some interesting aspect of a movie-based AI. If you do, please preview the DVD and make a note of the chapter and starting and ending times of the clip (please keep it short). Or bring a book and bookmark an interesting paragraph to quote from.
