Martin says: This is one direction for AI research -- reverse engineer the human brain. It's not the approach I'm fond of however, it certainly can be complimentary. I prefer understanding understanding if you catch my drift. Building AI from the ground up offers the opportunity to understand cognition. Reverse engineering the human/mammal brain may mask some understanding of cognition.
